Virginia Union University's
Demi Schrader allowed just two hits as she pitched a 13-0 shutout in the CIAA Softball Round-Up, held March 9-11 in Raleigh, N.C.
Schrader struck out two and walked just one en route to her first win of the year.
The Lady Panthers also beat Fayetteville State University 9-1 in the Round-Up.
VUU Tekisha Rhodes and
Shakia Mackey hit home runs for the Lady Panthers during the round-up.
VUU lost to Shaw 22-14, Saint Augustine's 13-3, Winston-Salem State 4-2 and Johnson C. Smith 7-4.
In all, Virginia Union went 2-4 in the Round-Up.
VUU is now 3-12 overall and 2-4 in CIAA play.
The Lady Panthers now return to Parker Field in Richmond, Va., to face Elizabeth City State University on Saturday, March 17, at 12:00 p.m.
