Box Score Virginia Union University's Melyse Brown and Ashle Freeman scored 16 points apiece, but Glenville State University downed the Lady Panthers 90-83 in the opening round of the Glenville State University Classic on Friday, November 9, in Glenville, W.Va.

The game was the season-opener for both teams.

Brown hit seven of eight shots from the field while Freeman was six-of-11 from the field.

VUU's Danielle Ferguson scored 14 points while Sydney Howard added 10 points in the game.

The Lady Panthers were led by Brown's nine rebounds while Freeman had four steals.

Glenville State was paced by Ginny Mills' 23 points and LaToya Hambrick's 13 rebounds.

VUU is now 0-1 while Glenville State is 1-0.

Virginia Union will face West Liberty University at 5:00 p.m. on the second day of the Classic on Saturday, November 10, in Glenville, W.Va.
