Ferguson Keys Lady Panthers' 1st Win over VSU Since 2007

Box Score Virginia Union University's Danielle Ferguson scored a career-high 23 points to lead the Lady Panthers to a 59-48 win over arch-rival Virginia State University on Thursday, January 26, in Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.

The win marked the first time VUU has defeated Virginia State in women's basketball since January 20, 2007, a span of eight games.

Ferguson hit seven of 10 shots from the field and went 9-for-12 from the free throw line.

VUU's Ashle Freeman scored 12 points while teammate Vicki Collier scored 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

The win raised VUU's record to 6-10 overall and 3-5 in CIAA play.  Virginia State fell to 9-9 overall and 1-5 in the CIAA.

VUU now faces Chowan University at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 28, in Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
