Freeman Breaks School Record For Steals

Box Score Virginia Union University's Ashle Freeman broke her own school record with 10 steals as well as scoring 27 points to lead VUU to a 70-53 win over Fayetteville State University on Thursday, January 19, in Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.

Freeman connected on 10 of 13 shots from the field while teammate Vicki Collier grabbed a team-high eight rebounds in the win.

Collier also scored 13 points and freshman Danielle Ferguson added 10 points for the Lady Panthers.

Freeman had set the school record of nine steals in the Lady Panthers' season-opener at Elon University.

Fayetteville State was led by Tashama Banner's 12 points.

The win raised VUU's record to 5-9 overall and 2-4 in CIAA play.  Fayetteville State fell to 7-7 overall and 1-4 in the CIAA.

VUU now faces Shaw University in a non-conference matchup on Tuesday, January 24, at 5:30 p.m. in Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
