Destiny Betts and Melyse Brown, who led Halifax County (Va.) High School to a perfect 20-0 regular season record in 2010-11, have signed contracts to continue their basketball careers at Virginia Union University.

Betts, a 6-2 center, was an Honorable Mention selection to the VHSCA All-Group AAA team, she averaged 15.8 points and 8.9 rebounds per game her senior season.

Brown earned First Team All-Western Valley District and Second Team All-Northwest Region honors in basketball this past season. She earned Honorable Mention all-district honors in volleyball the past two seasons and was named to the Second Team of the All-Western Valley District Team in her junior season, her final season of playing soccer.

The Lady Panthers begin their season on November 12 at Elon University.
