Virginia Union University's Reneisha Chiles slammed a home run despite suffering a sprained ankle, but Virginia State University stopped the Lady Panthers 18-2 and 14-3 on April 14 at the VSU Softball Field in Petersburg, Va.
Chiles rolled her ankle earlier in the game, and the injury prevented her from pitching the second game, but she sailed a home run over the 225-foot fence in left-center field in the fifth inning of the first game.
In the second game, VUU's
Shakia Mackey hit a double which scored Chiles.
The losses dropped VUU to 9-19.
Virginia Union now plays host to Bowie State University on Saturday, April 16, at Parker Field in Richmond, Va.
