Virginia Union University's Associate Athletic Director and Head Football Coach, Dr.
Alvin Parker, has once again been recognized as a leader in collegiate athletics, having been selected to attend two high-profile National Football League-sponsored events: the Eighth Annual Quarterback Summit and the Ozzie Newsome General Manager Forum.
The two events, held June 17–18 in Atlanta, Georgia, reflect the NFL's continued commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion within the sport. These programs—hosted in partnership with the Black College Football Hall of Fame—aim to provide professional development, networking opportunities, and pathways to leadership roles for coaches and front office personnel from across the football landscape, including representatives from Power Five conferences, HBCUs, and NFL organizations.
Dr. Parker, who has led the Virginia Union Panthers to back-to-back CIAA championships, expressed gratitude for the opportunity.
"I'm truly honored and thankful to be selected for the fourth time to attend the NFL General Manager Forum and Quarterback Summit," said Parker. "Representing Virginia Union University as Head Coach, it's a privilege to continue learning, growing, and connecting with some of the most respected leaders in football. I'm grateful for the continued support and remain committed to developing our program and contributing to the future of the game."
The Quarterback Summit featured a lineup of esteemed presenters, including:
- Teryl Austin, Pittsburgh Steelers
- Eric Bieniemy, Chicago Bears
- Jerrod Johnson, Houston Texans
- Keli'I Kekuewa, Jacksonville Jaguars
- Garrick McGee, University of North Carolina
- Scottie Montgomery, Detroit Lions
- John Park, Dallas Cowboys
- Ted White, University of Maryland
The Ozzie Newsome General Manager Forum, launched in 2021, was designed to connect and prepare current and aspiring front office executives. Over the course of the two-day event, participants engaged in leadership discussions, learned innovative strategies used by NFL teams, and gained invaluable insights from seasoned football professionals.
Dr. Parker's continued involvement in these initiatives not only underscores his individual excellence and leadership but also highlights Virginia Union University's growing national presence in collegiate athletics.
