Travon Willis, a 2nd Semester Grad Students majoring in Data Analytics and a member of the VUU Men's Golf Team wins the 2023 Carolinas Golf Association Sectional State Amateur Qualifier with a sizzling bogeyless round of six under par 66. There was a field of 74 golfers and The Top 15 and Ties made the cut and will compete in the State Amateur at The Jefferson Landing Golf Club in Jefferson, North Carolina. 
 
The qualifier was contested at The Stonebridge Golf Club in Monroe, North Carolina Wednesday, May 17th, 2023. Stonebridge Golf Club is an 18-Hole Championship Golf Course located in Monroe, North Carolina. Stonebridge was built in 1997 by course designer Richard Osbourne. Rather than build a golf course into a residential development, his mission was to begin with over 650 untouched acres and find the golf course that was already there. Making use of the scenic views, Stonebridge Golf Club came to life and became the course that golfers have come to know as one of the best Charlotte area golf courses to play. 
 
"Travon played in the number one position during the 2022-23 golf season and during this time he also posted several sub-par rounds. He is as good on the golf course as he is in the classroom with a 4.0 GPA. He will be returning in Fall 2023 to compete in his final collegiate year.
