Virginia Union University Golf Team competed in the 2026 CIAA Conference Championship April 13th & 14th , 2026. The tournament was contested at the Mill Creek Golf Club in Mebane, North Carolina.
Mill Creek Golf Club is a Semi-private, 18-hole championship course that opened in 1995 and is known for its Ultradwarf Bermuda greens, trees, and fairways. It offers a challenging yet enjoyable experience for all skill levels. It's a Par 72, 6,629 yards, which proved to be a challenge for all of the golfers. Each team played 54 holes. 36 holes on Day One and 18 holes on Day 2.
There were eight teams competing in The 2026 CIAA Conference Championship. VUU finished 6th and the team scoring was led by Freshman Juan Solano who finished T11 with a score of 224 (72/81/71) followed by Junior Joseph Boone who finished T14 with a score of 226 (74/79/73), followed by Junior Brady Wood who finished T19 with a score of 232 (77/79/76), followed by Freshman Walker Johnson who finished 24th with a score of 235 (78/80/77) and followed by Freshman Antonio Garcia who finished T35 with a score of 251 (/84/88/79).
In addition, the team was awarded the Dr. Freddie Vaughn Awards for having the highest team grade point averages with a 3.71 during the 2024–25 academic year, the CIAA announced on Sunday, April 12th, 2026. "This was our final tournament for the 2025-26 Spring Season. This was a very competitive golf tournament, in some very tough and warm conditions in Mebane, North Carolina. The VUU Golf Team responded well as we continued our rebuilding process," said VUU Head Golf Coach E. Lee Coble. Our goal continues to be to break 300 and they responded with a team score of 917 (301/319/297) and a scoring average of 305 (76.25). Again, the team has shown improvement throughout the Spring Season. During our final round of the season, we broke 300 with a score of 297.  "With the help of Assistant Coach Sean Bowers, the team responded and played very well in each competitive round.
