The 2023 Virginia State University Spring Golf Classic Tournament was contested at the Dogwood Trace Golf Club Monday, March 17th & 18th, 2023, in Petersburg, Virginia. Dogwood Trace Golf Course is a Par 72, 6, 605 yards layout that again proved to be a great test with windy and wet conditions during the 54 holes match. There were five CIAA Schools competing. Elizabeth City State University, Fayetteville State University, Livingstone College, Virginia State University and Virginia Union University.

VUU team scoring was led by 2nd Year Grad Student Hayden Garcia finishing 2nd with a score of 219 (71/70/78), followed by 1st Year Grad Student Travon Willis T 4th with a score of 221 (71/72/78), followed by 2 nd Year Grad Student Alkin Barkley T 8th with a score of 225 (74/76/75), followed by Senior Zaccheus Spann T 11th with a score of 226 (75/75/76) and 2nd year Grad Student Ahmad Reedus16th with a score of 231 (78/76/77). Hayden Garcia was number two among the top three individual medalists.

The team finished with a team scoring average of 74.16. This is a process of continued improvement as we get ready for our 2023 Northern Division Golf Tournament Monday, April 3rd & 4th, 2023.
