The Virginia Union University Women's Bowling Team participated in the CIAA Event 1 of the bowling season in Bowie, Md., on November 10-12.
The team performed very well. Led by
Kiara Powell, a junior from Union, N.J., who is majoring in Special Education, the team had eight wins and four losses. The four losses were against CIAA Northern Division Champions Bowie State.
Kiara won the individual awards for the north division with a high game of 224 and high average of 178. Her high game was tied for the highest in the tournament and her average was the second highest.
"I am really proud of how the ladies bowled this weekend," said VUU Head Bowling Coach
James Washington. "This is a very talented team, and we are poised for a very good season. We just have to find a way to beat Bowie State. I know that after close matches against them on their home lanes this past weekend that we can accomplish that goal. This is going to be a very special year."
Virginia Union will next compete at the CIAA Event 2, to be held January 26-28, 2024, at Salisbury, N.C.
