RICHMOND, VA – The Virginia Union University women's bowling team opened its 2024-25 season at the VUU Invitational Tournament, held October 31 through November 2 in Richmond, Va.
Twelve teams from across the country competed in the Invitational, including:
Central Missouri took home the champions trophy in the Invitational.
With a roster featuring only one returning starter and four bowlers competing collegiately for the first time, the Lady Panthers faced a challenging start in the tournament. Despite not winning, Head Coach
James Washington saw encouraging signs from his young team.
"The takeaway for me as a coach was that after four years of being in the top three and finishing second the last two years, I knew this would be a rebuilding season," said Washington. "The young ladies, for their first tournament, showed promise. They never gave up—despite not winning, they had fun and encouraged each other. I believe with additional practice the team will come together and surprise some teams throughout the season. It will be a challenging year, but one that we will embrace and work hard to get back to our winning ways."
Virginia Union will return to action November 7–9 when the team competes in the first CIAA Event of the season in Petersburg, Va.
