Virginia Union University's Robert Osborne has been named the CIAA Food Lion Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the CIAA announced on Tuesday, January 17.

 Osborne guided the Panthers to a 2-0 record last week, averaging 24.5 points and eight rebounds a game while shooting 64 percent from the field. In an 84-61 victory over St. Augustine's, the senior posted team-high totals of 22 points and 10 rebounds and made 10 of 13 field goals. On Saturday, the Richmond, VA native dropped a game-high 27 points with six boards and four assists to lead Virginia Union over Virginia State in the Freedom Classic, 77-69.

"Robbie continues to have a strong season going into conference play," said VUU Head Men's Basketball Coach Jay Butler.  "He's filling the stat sheet up in a lot of categories and I'm most impressed with that leads the team in assists and number three in the conference in assists along with leading the conference in scoring."

Virginia Union will meet Lincoln University of Pennsylvania at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 18, at Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
