Virginia Union University's women's track and field team opened the 2022 outdoor season by competing at the Fred Hardy Invitational at the University of Richmond in Richmond, Va., on Friday, March 18.
VUU's
Jade Lane, a sophomore from Lynchburg, Va., majoring in Mass Communications, placed ninth in the women's long jump with a leap of 5.19 meters.
Virginia Union's
Kayla Lee, a sophomore from Suffolk, Md., who is majoring in Psychology, placed fourth in the women's 100 meter dash with a time of 12.68.
"The team is doing pretty well," said VUU Interim Track and Field Coach Franck Charles. "This is our first outdoor meet after a long indoor season. We just have to practice hard and finish hard."
Virginia Union will next compete in the Doc Jopson Invite at Bridgewater College on Saturday, March 26.
