Women's Track & Field Compete at Morehouse Relays

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Virginia Union University women's track & field team delivered several strong performances while competing in the 2026 Morehouse Relays this past weekend at Morehouse College.

"I'm very proud of our women's team; they all showed strong performances and represented the program well," said VUU Head Women's Track & Field Coach Franck Charles.

The Lady Panthers saw success across both the track and field events during the meet.

In the field events, Angell Garrison advanced to the finals in the triple jump, demonstrating strong effort and competitiveness against a talented field.

One of the highlights of the meet came in the 4x400-meter relay, where the Lady Panthers produced a historic performance.

"Our 4x400m relay team delivered a historic performance, breaking last year's school record with a new time of 3:52," Charles said. "This is a huge milestone for our program, especially considering we were running 4:00+ in previous years. In just a few seasons, this group has elevated the standard and is now ranked Top 3 in the conference."

On the track, several Lady Panthers delivered standout performances:
  • Toni Middlebrooks placed second in the 800 meters with a time of 2:16.59.
  • Christal Rolack advanced to the finals in the 100-meter dash while posting a personal-best time of 12.03. She also set a new outdoor school record in the 200 meters with a time of 24.80.
Virginia Union also received a solid showing from its shot-put group, which continues to build consistency and strength in competition during the early portion of the outdoor season.

"Overall, it's great to see our women's team performing at a high level and continuing to make history," Charles said. "Now, we shift our focus to the NSU Invitational, so let's keep building."

The Lady Panthers will next travel to Norfolk, Virginia to compete in the NSU Invitational at Norfolk State University on Saturday, April 4.
