Virginia Union University's
Raemaad Wright has been named the CIAA Food Lion Men's Basketball Player of the Week for his performance in VUU's 83-62 win over #2-ranked Augusta University on Saturday, December 3, at Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
Against the No. 2 ranked team in Division II, Wright recorded a career-high of 34 points and 16 rebounds for an 83-62 win Saturday. The senior went 12-of-16 shooting from the field and four-of-six from three, also career-bests. The Suffolk, VA, native also had two steals and two blocks. The 34 points and 16 rebounds were the most by any player in the CIAA this season.
"I thought Raemaad had a great week!" said VUU Head Men's Basketball Coach
Jay Butler. "He was fantastic against Augusta University. He controlled the paint on both ends of the court and he's been working really hard on his three-point shot and free throw shooting. He's a great kid and one of our leaders this year."
VUU will meet Salem University at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 10, at Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
