PODCAST | Virginia Union University signed 13 players on Wednesday, February 6, on Football National Signing Day, including a junior college quarterback who threw for over 1,800 yards last season.
Â
Junior college standout Khalid Morris, has signed to play for VUU in 2019. Morris, a 6-1, 220 lb., quarter from Petersburg, Va., is transferring in from ASA Junior College, where he passed for 1,599 yards and 18 touchdowns last season. He was first-team All-Northeast Conference.
Â
"We filled a need because we graduated guys out of those positions," said VUU Head Coach Dr.
Alvin Parker. "Our starting quarterback graduated last year in
Darius Taylor, so there was a need for us. We also wanted to create some competition at that position, so we went out and got a top level guy like Khalid Morris. He played for one season at his junior college and threw for a lot of yards. He's a local product as well, having attended Thomas Dale High School. We think he can create an instant impact."
Â
Another familiar face to football fans may be Jaylen Bradshaw, a wide receiver from Chesapeake, Va., who had originally signed with Virginia Tech.

Of the 13, seven are Virginia products, but six are from outside the Commonwealth.
Â
"We feel comfortable recruiting coast-to-coast," Parker said. "We got a big 6-5 lineman out of California with Kofi Karikari. When we go that far, it's usually to sign a junior college or a transfer, but we felt that good about a guy like that and that this high schooler can make an instant impact.
