Todd Hughes scored a team-high 16 points, but Virginia State University edged the Panthers 60-57 on Wednesday, February 7, in Petersburg, Va.
The game marked the first time the VUU men's basketball team had played a game on the VSU campus since the 1993-94 season.
Hughes was the only Panther to reach double-figure scoring.

Devin Moore led the Panthers on the boards with six rebounds.

Kory Cooley scored nine points apiece for the Panthers.
The loss dropped VUU to 11-13 overall and 6-6 in the CIAA. Virginia State is now 19-3 overall and 9-3 in CIAA play.
Virginia Union now travels to Bowie, Md., to face Bowie State University in a nationally televised game at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 10. The game will be televised on the AspireTV Network.
