Box Score Virginia Union University's Todd Hughes led all players with 18 points, but Saint Augustine's University dealt the Panthers their first CIAA loss of the season 64-56 on Monday, January 8, in Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.

Hughes hit 7 of 14 shots from the field, including three three-pointers in the game.

VUU's Jordan Thornton had 10 points while teammate Jordan Peebles dished out a game-high 10 assists.

The loss dropped Virginia Union to 9-8 on the season and 4-1 in the CIAA.  Saint Augustine's is now 8-9 overall and 5-1 in CIAA play.

Virginia Union now faces CIAA arch-rival Virginia State University in the 2018 Freedom Classic, to be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 14, in the Richmond Coliseum in Richmond, Va.
