Box Score Virginia Union University's James Paige scored a career-high 29 points as VUU defeated Shaw University 98-96 in a double-overtime thriller on Thursday, January 4, in Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.

VUU's Jemal Smith sank three free throws in the final nine seconds of the second overtime to give the Panthers their eighth win on the season.

Smith finished with 18 points.

Virginia Union's Devin Moore recorded a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds while teammate Kory Cooley scored 15 points in the win.

Moore also recorded a season-high four blocks.

The win raised VUU's record to 8-7 overall and 3-0 in the CIAA.  Shaw fell to 8-5 overall and 2-1 in the CIAA.

Virginia Union now continues the home stand when it hosts Fayetteville State University at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 6, in Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
