Box Score PHOTO GALLERY | Virginia Union University's James Paige scored 21 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, but Virginia State University defeated the Panthers in the 2018 Freedom Classic 82-72 on Sunday, January 14, at the Richmond Coliseum in Richmond, Va.

VUU's Todd Hughes scored 16 points, including hitting 11 of 14 free throws.

Virginia Union's William Jenkins also scored 16 points in the game.

VUU out-rebounded the Trojans 38-29, including holding a 17-7 edge in offensive rebounds.

The loss dropped VUU to 9-9 on the season and 4-2 in CIAA play.  Virginia State is now 15-1 overall and 5-1 in the CIAA.

Virginia Union now travels to Charlotte, N.C., where the Panthers will meet Johnson C. Smith University at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 17.
