Box Score Virginia Union University's Marcus Hoosier scored a career-high 22 points, but Chowan University defeated the Panthers 88-84 in overtime on Saturday, February 18, in Murfreesboro, N.C.

The loss, however, will not affect the Panthers' standing in the Northern Division of the CIAA.  VUU will enter the 2017 CIAA Tournament as the Northern Division Champions.

VUU's Ray Anderson scored 21 points while John Mitchell led the team with 11 rebounds.

Virginia Union's James Paige scored 16 points while Tavon Mealy added 13 points.

The Panthers finish the year with a 22-6 regular-season record and 14-2 in the CIAA.

Chowan is now 18-8 overall and 10-6 in CIAA play.

Virginia Union will begin play in the CIAA Tournament on Thursday, February 23, in the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, N.C.
