Box Score Virginia Union University's Tavon Mealy and Ray Anderson scored 18 points apiece to lead VUU to a 69-61 win over Elizabeth City State University on Wednesday, February 15, in Historic Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.

The win, coupled with Virginia State University's 65-61 loss to Bowie State University, gives Virginia Union the Championship of the CIAA Northern Division.

VUU also honored seniors Mealy, Anderson, John Mitchell and Dashawn Barton, all of who were playing their last game on the storied Barco-Stevens Hall hardwood.

Mitchell led the Panthers on the boards with eight rebounds while teammate Marcus Hoosier dished off a game-high nine assists.

The win also raised VUU's record to 22-5 overall, marking the most wins for a Virginia Union men's team since the 2007-08 team win 22 games.

The Panthers are also 8-1 in the Northern Division of the CIAA and 14-1 in the CIAA overall.

Elizabeth City State fell to 2-21 overall and 2-13 in CIAA play.

Virginia Union wraps up the 2016-17 regular season when it meets Chowan University at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 18, in Murfreesboro, N.C.
