Box Score PHOTO GALLERY | Virginia Union University's Jordan Peebles, a candidate for the CIAA Rookie of the Year, grabbed a career-high nine rebounds, but Shepherd University defeated VUU 62-56 on Tuesday, December 19, in Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.

Peebles previous high rebounding game was six, which he had done twice this season, against Cheney University and Livingstone College.

VUU's Todd Hughes and Kory Cooley tied for high scoring honors with 12 points apiece for the Panthers.  Cooley also dished out seven assists.

As a team, Virginia Union out-rebounded Shepherd 42-29, but Shepherd hit 13 of 33 three-pointers in the contest compared to VUU's 7 of 19 three-point shooting.

The loss evened VUU's record at 7-7 on the year while Shepherd is now 5-6.

Virginia Union is now off until after the new year, with the Panthers next game being against Shaw University at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2018, in Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
