Box Score Virginia Union University's Todd Hughes scored 13 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as VUU defeated Winston-Salem State University 71-68 on Thursday, December 14, in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Hughes' 11 boards tied his career-high in a VUU uniform.  He also had 11 rebounds against Wheeling Jesuit University on November 15.

VUU's Kory Cooley led the Panthers in scoring with 14 points while James Paige and Jordan Thornton scored 13 points apiece.

Cooley also dished off a team-high five assists.

The win evened VUU's record at 6-6 and made the Panthers 1-0 in the CIAA.  Winston-Salem State fell to 2-8 overall and 0-1 in CIAA play.

Virginia Union now travels to Salisbury, N.C., to face Livingstone College at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 16.
