Box Score Virginia Union University's DeAndre Thomas scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, but Concord University defeated the Panthers 84-80 on Monday, December 11, in Athens, W.V.

Thomas' 15 points and 10 boards were both season highs for the 6-5 junior from Camp Springs, Md.

VUU's Kory Cooley led the Panthers with 17 points while teammate Micah Thomas added 11 points.

Virginia Union's Todd Hughes scored 10 points in the game.

VUU had fought back from being down 13 points with 10:07 left to play to cut the Concord lead to two with 1:50 left.  Concord, however, held on for the win.

The loss dropped Virginia Union to 5-6 on the season while Concord is now 8-3.

The Panthers now travel to Winston-Salem, N.C., to face Winston-Salem State University in the CIAA regular-season opener for both teams.  Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 14.
