Box Score Virginia Union University's Tavon Mealy tipped in a missed shot at the buzzer to give VUU a 74-72 win over Shaw University on Thursday, January 5, in Raleigh, N.C.

VUU's Marcus Hoosier sent up a three-pointer with 2 seconds on the clock, but the shot was off before Mealy grabbed the shot and put it in.

Hoosier led the Panthers with 14 points while teammate Mealy and James Paige added 12 points apiece.

Virginia Union's Ray Anderson and John Mitchell scored 10 points to round out the double-figure scoring.

Mealy also led the Panthers with eight rebounds.

The win raised VUU's record to 10-4 overall and 2-0 in the CIAA.  Shaw fell to 5-8 overall and 1-2 in CIAA play.

Virginia Union now travels to Fayetteville, N.C., to face Fayetteville State University at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 7.
