Box Score The Virginia Union University men's basketball team captured the #2 seed in the Northern Division of the CIAA and also assured themselves of their first winning season in four years by downing Chowan University 87-77 on Saturday, February 20, in Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.

VUU will enter the CIAA Tournament with a two-round bye and play their first tournament game on Thursday, February 25, in the Time-Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte, N.C.  The Panthers' potential opponents and game times will be announced on Sunday, February 21.

VUU's Ray Anderson led the Panthers with 19 points while Robert Valentine added 15 points.  

Virginia Union's Tavon Mealy scored 14 points and teammate Danny McElroy had 11 points and nine rebounds.

The Panthers finish the regular season with 15-13, the most wins since the 2010-11 season.  VUU is also 8-8 in the CIAA.  Chowan dropped to 19-8 overall and 11-5 in the CIAA.
