After a disappointing performance last weekend at their Invitational tournament, the VUU Women's bowling team showed remarkable improvement this weekend at the CIAA event #1 bowled at AMF Laurel lanes in Laurel Maryland.
Freshman
Kenya McLeod helped to lead the team to a third place finish in the division and fourth overall in total pin fall. Kenya was chosen northern division rookie of the week. This is the first time an individual from Virginia Union has ever received a CIAA award for bowling.Â
Kenya average 154 with a high game of 193, she was followed by senior NyEma Gay with a 179, sophomore
Deja Overby with a 170 game, juniors
Raeleen Brown with a 164 game and
Asia Rogers with a 161 game.Â
Despite Coach
James Washington being pleased with the performance of the team this weekend, he acknowledges that are things that need to be worked on and improved on if this team is to make a run to the championship tournament in March.   Â
The bowling team is off until after the first of the year then they face a four week grueling schedule that starts with the Frederick Underwood Classic back in Laurel Maryland January 13th – 15. They follow that tournament with a CIAA Event in Fayetteville, North Carolina January 27-29.Â
The team returns home to host the CIAA Round-up at Bowl America Southwest in Midlothian, Va., the bowling home of the VUU Panthers.
