Box Score Virginia Union University's Kory Cooley scored a team-high 18 points, but Shaw University defeated VUU 58-56 on a last-second basket on Thursday, January 7, in Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.

Cooley hit six of 16 shots from the field including two three-points in the win.

VUU's Danny McElroy had 10 rebounds in the game.

The loss dropped Virginia Union to 6-8 overall and 0-3 in the CIAA.  Shaw is now 5-10 overall and 2-1 in the CIAA.

Virginia Union now faces Fayetteville State University at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 9, in Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
