Box Score Virginia Union University's Tavon mealy scored 19 points, but Chowan snapped the Panthers' six-game winning streak by defeating VUU 82-71 on Saturday, January 30, in Murfreesboro, N.C.

Mealy scored 14 points in the first half in the game.

VUU's Ray Anderson scored 15 points while teammate Robert Valentine added 12 points.

Virginia Union's Ke'Andre Gibson added 11 points while Danny McElvoy led the Panthers with eight rebounds.

The loss dropped VUU to 12-10 overall and 5-5 in the CIAA.  Chowan is now 15-5 overall and 8-2 in CIAA play.

Virginia Union now embarks on a three-game road trip, with the Panthers facing Winston-Salem State University in Winston-Salem, N.C., at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, February 1.
