Box Score Virginia Union University's Robert Valentine came off the bench and scored 20 points as the Panthers defeated Elizabeth City State University 73-68 on Wednesday, January 27, in Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.

It was the sixth-straight win for the Panthers, their longest winning streak since the 2009-10 team won eight straight games.

VUU's John Mitchell added 13 points while grabbing a team-high seven rebounds.

Virginia Union's Ray Anderson and Kory Cooley scored 12 points apiece in the win.

The win raised VUU's record to 12-9 overall and 5-4 in the CIAA.  The Panthers also lead the Northern Division of the CIAA with a 4-1 divisional record.

Elizabeth City State dropped to 7-9 overall and 4-5 in the CIAA.

Virginia Union now travels to Murfreesboro, N.C., for a nationally televised contest against the Hawks of Chowan University.  Tip-off will be at 4:05 p.m. on Saturday, January 30.
