Cooley Powers VUU to 5th Straight Win

Box Score Virginia Union University's Kory Cooley scored 24 points to lead the Panthers to an 87-73 win over Lincoln University on Monday, January 25, in Lincoln University, Pa.

It was the fifth straight win for VUU, marking the team's first five-game win streak since the 2010-11 team won five straight games.

VUU's Tavon Mealy had 16 points while teammate Timmone Whatley led the Panthers with 12 assists and six rebounds.

Virginia Union's Ray Anderson scored 15 points and Robert Valentine had 12 points in the win.

The win raised VUU's record to 11-9 overall and 4-4 in the CIAA.  The win also moved the Panthers into sole possession of first place in the Northern Division of the CIAA with a 3-1 divisional record.

Lincoln fell to 7-13 overall and 5-4 in CIAA play.

Virginia Union now returns home to face Elizabeth City State University at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 27, in Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
