The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) has announced the 40 student-athletes from its 12 member institutions selected to the CIAA Commissioner's All-Academic Team on Tuesday, May 19.

Virginia Union University's Anthony Michael, of the men's tennis team, was named to the First Team while Taylor Nelson of the men's golf team, was named to the Second Team.

Michael, a Biology major with a minor in Chemistry from Benue State, Nigeria.  He has a GPA of 3.8 was named to the All-CIAA team in men's tennis this spring.  In 2015, Michael had an 8-1 conference record at #1 singles.  He was ranked as high as 10th in the region for tennis last season.

Nelson, a senior from Newport News, Va., is majoring in Mathematics.  He led VUU with an average score of 84.3 per round.  He placed 17th among the CIAA top golfers.
