Avery Jirmnson scored a game-high 24 points, including going 8-for-10 from the free throw line, to power the Panthers to an 80-70 win over 10th-ranked Winston-Salem State University on Wednesday, February 4, in Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
Winston-Salem State was ranked 10th in the College Sports Information Directors (CoSIDA) of America Division II Atlantic Region Poll for the week of February 2.  The win marked the first VUU victory over a ranked team this season.

Ray Anderson had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds in the win.

Colton Lewis had 12 points for the Panthes.
The loss dropped Winston-Salem State to 13-7 overall and 6-5 in CIAA play.
Virginia Union remains at home and will face Bowie State University at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 11, in Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
