Box Score Virginia Union University's Ray Anderson scored 18 points, but Shepherd University defeated the men's basketball team 87-76 in the opening round of the Clarion Hotel Classic, held on Saturday, November 14, in Shepherdstown, W.V.

VUU's Robert Valentine added 15 points while teammate Tavon Mealy scored 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds.

The loss gave VUU an 0-1 record while Shepherd is 1-0.  Virginia Union now faces Wheeling Jesuit University on the second day of the Classic at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 15, in Shepherdstown, W.V.
