Box Score Virginia Union University's Avery Jirmnson scored 15 points, but Shaw University defeated the Panthers 79-60 on Thursday, January 8, in Raleigh, N.C.

Jirmnson was 6-of-7 from the field and 3-of-4 from the free throw line in the game.

VUU's Karo Adjekughele added 13 points while also grabbing a team-high six rebounds in the game.

The loss dropped Virginia Union to 4-10 overall and 0-4 in CIAA play.  Shaw is now 8-6 overall and leads the Southern Division of the CIAA with a 3-1 conference record.

Virginia Union now travels to Fayetteville, N.C., to face Fayetteville State University in a nationally-televised game at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 10.
