Virginia Union University's D'Andre Bullard scored 15 points, but Virginia State University defeated VUU 72-61 in the 2014 Big Apple Classic on Sunday, December 7, in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Bullard also had three steals to go with his high scoring.

VUU's Avery Jirmnson added 11 points in the game.  Jirmnson, Colton Lewis and Cedric Happi Noube had six rebounds.

The loss dropped VUU to 4-6 on the season and 0-1 in the CIAA.  Virginia State is now 6-2 and 1-0 in CIAA play.

Virginia Union now returns home to Barco-Stevens Hall to face Glenville State College at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 16, in Richmond, Va.
