Box Score Virginia Union University's Omar Briggs led the Panthers with 21 points while Avery Jirmnson added 17 points as VUU downed Johnson C. Smith University 83-73 on Monday, January 6, in Charlotte, N.C.

Briggs was 8-of-14 from the field while Jirmnson was 7-of-17 from the floor.

VUU's Te'Quan Alers added 17 points and led VUU with 11 rebounds while Ken Pankey added 14 points in the win.

The win raised VUU's record to 3-10 overall and evened the Panthers' CIAA record at 2-2.

Johnson C. Smith dropped to 10-3 overall and 2-1 in the CIAA.

VUU now returns to Historic Barco-Stevens Hall to face Shaw University at 7:30 p.m. on January 9 in Richmond, Va.
