Avery Jirmnson scored 22 points while Akani Salako added 16 points. Â Virginia Union's
Ken Pankey rounded out the double-figure scoring with 10 points.
Livingstone shot 54.3 percent from the field (40 of 73 shots) compared to VUU's 43.3 percent shooting (29 of 67).
"It seemed that everybody who put up a shot knocked down the shot for them," VUU men's bassketball coach Luqman Jaaber said after the game. Â "We're still making adjustments with the new rules. Â We're trying to play defense without using out hands or our feet, and it really benefits the offensive play."
The loss dropped VUU to 2-10 overall on the season and 1-2 in the CIAA. Â Livingstone, which had been ranked as high as 13th in the nation before dropping out the latest D-II poll, is now 9-2 overall and 2-0 in CIAA play.
Virginia Union now travels to Charlotte, N.C., to face Johnson C. Smith University at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, January 6.
