Box Score Virginia Union University's
Calvin Brown hit a three-pointer with 1:17 left in the game to give VUU a dramatic 62-61 win over Virginia State University on February 9 in the Siegel Center in Richmond, Va.
Brown then stole the ball from VSU's Allen Harris as time expired to insure the win.
VUU's
Ken Pankey led all scorers with 16 points while Brown and
Juan Wilson added 11 points apiece in the win.
Virginia Union's
Kimar Johnson and
Wesley Simmons tied for high-rebounding honors with five boards apiece.
The win raised VUU's record to 7-12 overall and 5-7 in the CIAA. The Panthers have won four of their last five games and are currently tied with Lincoln University for second place in the Northern Division of the CIAA.
Virginia State fell to 10-11 overall and 5-7 in the CIAA.
Virginia Union now returns to Barco-Stevens Hall to face Washington Adventist University in a non-conference match-up at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, February 11, in Richmond, Va.
