Box Score Virginia Union University's Ken Pankey led the Panthers with 14 points, but Bellarmine University defeated VUU 86-64 on the first day of the Holiday Inn Southwest Classic, held on Friday, December 13, in Louisville, Ky.

Pankey hit three-of-five shots from the field and was a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line in the game.

VUU's Avery Jirmnson scored 13 points, including nine points in the first half, for the Panthers.

Virginia Union was led on the boards by Justin Idkide, who pulled down four rebounds.

The loss dropped VUU to 1-6 on the season while Bellarmine, which is ranked #2 in the nation, is now 6-0.

VUU will play the seventh-ranked University of Southern Indiana at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 14, on the second day of the Holiday Inn Southwest Classic in Louisville, Ky.
