Box Score Virginia Union University's Calvin Brown scored 22 points to lead the Panthers to an 88-83 upset over #17 Bowie State University in Bowie, Md., on Thursday, February 2.

Brown had five three pointers while the Panthers went 12-for-20 beyond the three-point arc for the game.

VUU's Cordero Holt scored 17 points, including a massive dunk in the second half, while teammate Juan Wilson added 15 points in the win.

VUU's Jamaal Blalock scored 12 points for the Panthers.

The win moves VUU into a virtual tie with Bowie State for first place in the Northern Division of the CIAA.  The Panthers are now 12-11 overall and 7-4 in CIAA play.  

Bowie State is now 16-4 overall and 8-3 in CIAA play.

Both teams have identical 4-1 Divisional records.

VUU now returns home to face Elizabeth City State University at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 4, in historic Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
