Juan Wilson scored a career-high 20 points, but it wasn't enough as Winston-Salem State University defeated the Panthers 67-66 on a free throw with four seconds left on Saturday, January 7, in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Wilson high nine-of-13 shots from the field en route to his best scoring performance of his career.
Wilson's previous high was 13 points against West Virginia Wesleyan College on December 6, 2011.
VUU's
Wesley Simmons added 18 points while
Damion Harris had 10 points and a team-high eight rebounds.
Winston-Salem State was paced by freshman WyKevin Bazemore's 24 points and 17 rebounds.
The loss dropped VUU to 6-8 overall and 1-1 in CIAA play while Winston-Salem State is now 9-2 overall and 2-0 in the CIAA.
VUU now travels to Raleigh, N.C., to face Shaw University on Monday, January 9, at 8:00 p.m.
