Box Score Virginia Union University's Wesley Simmons scored 18 points while Calvin Brown scored 16 points to lead VUU to a 63-61 win over Virginia State University in the 2012 Freedom Classic, played on Sunday, January 15, in the Richmond Coliseum in Richmond, Va.

The win was the 23rd straight time that the Panthers downed Virginia State in a streak that reaches back to January, 2002.

VUU was led in rebounding by Simmons, Brown and Damion Harris, each of whom had five rebounds apiece.

Virginia State was led in scoring by Kenny Mitchell's 21 points.

The win raised VUU's record to 8-10 overall and 3-3 in CIAA play.  Virginia State fell to 2-14 overall and 1-4 in the CIAA.
