Box Score Virginia Union University's Calvin Brown scored a career-high 24 points, but Shaw University held on for a 63-60 win over the Panthers on Monday, January 9, in Spaulding Gym in Raleigh, N.C.

Brown hit eight of 14 shots from the field, including 4-of-8 from beyond the three-point arc, in the game.

VUU's Wesley Simmons and Juan Wilson led the Panthers with eight rebounds apiece while sophomore Damion Harris added 15 points against the Bears.

Shaw was led by Malik Alvin's 17 points and Tony Smith's 10 rebounds.

The loss drops VUU to 6-9 overall and 1-2 in CIAA play.  Shaw is now 10-2 and 2-0 in the CIAA.

VUU now travels back to Raleigh, N.C., to face Saint Augustine's College on Thursday, January 12.  Tipoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. and the game will be streamed at Virginia Union University Sports at http://www.ustream.tv.
