Virginia Union University's head coach Willard Coker got his 50th career coaching win when Elizabeth City State University's Rondy Tucker missed the second half of a one-and-one with one-tenth of one second left as VUU downed ECSU 54-53 in front of a regional television audience in Elizabeth City, N.C., on February 5.

Tucker had been fouled by VUU's Braxton Byerson with 0.1 remaining on the clock.  Tucker hit the front-end of the one-and-one, but his second free throw bounced off the front of the rim.

Byerson finished the game with 20 points to lead VUU in scoring while Wayne Ford had 12 points and seven rebounds.

Tucker lead Elizabeth City State in scoring with 22 points.

The win raised VUU's record to 10-7 overall and 8-4 in the CIAA.  ECSU fell to 12-8 overall and 6-6 in CIAA play.

VUU now returns home to Barco-Stevens Hall to face Saint Paul's College on February 10.
