Virginia Union University's
Braxton Byerson scored 20 points and
Gregory Redford grabbed 20 rebounds to lead VUU to a 68-60 win over Elizabeth City State University on February 23 in Barco-Stevens Hall.
The Panthers said farewell to five seniors and also honored the 1992 National Championship Virginia Union team.
Six former Panthers also had their numbers honored at halftime.
The win enabled VUU to nail down the third and final bye in the CIAA Tournament. The Panthers will enter the tournament as the #2 seed in the Northern Division of the CIAA and will play on March 3 in Charlotte, N.C.

Branden Smith added 19 points in the win.
Elizabeth City State was led by Randy Tucker's 17 points and eight rebounds.
The win gave VUU a record of 15-8 overall and 13-5 in the CIAA. Elizabeth City State fell to 17-9 overall and 11-7 in CIAA play.
