Virginia Union University's Braxton Byerson scored 26 points and grabbed seven reounds to lead VUU to a 69-59 win over CIAA rival Chowan University on February 14 in Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.

Byerson hit eight of 17 shots from the field, including three three-pointers, as VUU solidified their standing in the CIAA Northern Division.

VUU's Wayne Ford added 16 points while teammate Branden McDonald had nine points.

Chowan was led in scoring by Mark Brown's 19 points and in rebounding by Deandre Tyree's 12 boards.

The win raised VUU's record to 12-7 overall and 10-4 in the CIAA.  Chowan fell to 4-20 overall and 3-13 CIAA play.

Virginia Union now travels to Salisbury, N.C., to face Livingstone College on February 16.
