Virginia Union University's
Paul Jones set a new school record by booming a 72-yard punt against Elizabeth City State University and had the highest single-game punting average in the history of the VUU football program in the Panthers' 43-41 triple-overtime loss to ECSU in Hovey Field in Richmond, Va., on October 8.
Jones' 72-yard punt shattered the school record of 71 yards, set by Johnathan Clark against Saint Augustine's College on October 4, 2003. Jones' average of 51.3 yards per punt for nine punts also broke the school record held by Keefe Latta, who averaged 50.0 yards per punt against Kentucky State University on October 4, 1986.
Jones' total punt yardage of 463 yards is second only to Clarence "Toe" Perkins, who totalled 494 yards against Hampton University on November 24, 1948.
VUU's

Hickman also rushed for two touchdowns.
